What's Actually Included When You Book
A technician tests the heating elements, thermostat, fan motor, and control board on-site to find the actual fault before quoting a price. Built-in ovens are handled with care around surrounding cabinetry — panels are removed and refitted properly, not forced. Common parts — elements, thermostats, door seals, fan motors — are carried on the van. Every repair comes with a 90-day workmanship warranty.
What's Actually Wrong With Your Oven?
Oven faults fall into a handful of patterns. Here's what we actually find, and roughly what each one costs.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Typical price |
|---|---|---|
| Not heating at all | On electric ovens, a failed heating element is the most common cause. On gas ovens, it's usually the igniter or thermocouple. A tripped thermal fuse is also worth checking before assuming a bigger fault. | AED 200 – 400 |
| Uneven baking / hot spots | Usually the fan (convection) motor not running, so heat isn't circulating properly. On ovens with separate upper and lower elements, one can fail while the other still works, giving inconsistent results rather than no heat at all. | AED 200 – 450 |
| Temperature runs hot or cold | The thermostat or temperature sensor has drifted out of calibration — a genuinely common wear issue after years of use, and one most people don't realise is fixable rather than just "how the oven is now." | AED 200 – 450 |
| Trips the circuit breaker | An electrical short — typically a shorted heating element, a burned wire terminal, or moisture ingress into the control board. Treat this as an electrical safety issue, not a routine fault (see below). | AED 250 – 600 |
| Door won't seal, heat escaping | A worn door seal or gasket, sometimes combined with hinge misalignment after years of daily use — a common wear item that also drives up cooking times and energy use. | AED 150 – 350 |
| Fan not working | Either the fan motor itself has failed, or the fan blade is physically obstructed. Convection cooking and even heat distribution both depend on this working properly. | AED 200 – 450 |
| Oven light not working | Usually just the bulb — the cheapest fix on this list. Occasionally a socket or wiring fault behind the lamp housing. | AED 100 – 200 |
| Self-clean cycle won't run or door won't unlock | On pyrolytic (self-cleaning) ovens: usually the door lock mechanism itself, or a safety interlock that's triggered because the cycle detected a genuine overheating issue. | AED 250 – 550 |

Is Your Oven's Display Temperature Actually Accurate?
If your baking has been quietly getting worse over the years — things browning too fast or staying pale at the "right" temperature — the oven's thermostat may have drifted out of calibration rather than your technique changing. This is one of the most common oven faults, and one of the least recognised.
A cheap oven thermometer placed inside the cavity is a genuine two-minute check: run the oven at 180°C for 15 minutes and see what the thermometer actually reads. A gap of more than about 10–15°C points to a calibration or sensor issue worth fixing.
Try This Before You Call
- Confirm the oven is actually set to bake/heat mode, not just the clock or timer
- Check the socket has power, and the plug or connection is fully seated
- Push the door firmly closed — some ovens won't heat properly with the door slightly ajar
- Check whether the breaker for the kitchen circuit has tripped for an unrelated reason
- If temperature seems off, verify with an oven thermometer before assuming a fault

On the Job
Every Part Tested Before It's Replaced
Heating elements, thermostats, fan motors, and control boards are each tested individually — so you're not paying for a guess.
If Your Oven Trips the Breaker
A tripped breaker means an electrical fault, not just a coincidence — treat it as a signal to stop, not to keep resetting.
- Turn the oven off at the circuit breaker, not just at the oven controls
- Don't keep resetting the breaker to try the oven again — repeated resets on a genuine short risk further damage
- Unplug or isolate the oven if you can safely reach the connection
- Don't open the rear panel or inspect internal wiring yourself
- Call a technician — this is especially worth prioritising in humid kitchens, where moisture ingress into the control board is a common cause
Oven Repair Cost in Abu Dhabi
Most repairs fall between AED 150 and AED 450. Control board and electrical-fault work sits higher. What moves the price:
Component cost
A control board or display module costs meaningfully more than a heating element or door seal — and on premium brands, boards can run higher still.
Built-in access
A built-in oven set into cabinetry takes longer to access than a freestanding range oven — panels need to come off carefully first.
Electrical fault complexity
A breaker-tripping fault means tracing an electrical short before it can be fixed — that diagnostic time is reflected in the price.
You'll always see the price before we start
Every part — element, thermostat, fan motor, board — is tested individually before it's quoted for replacement.
* Prices are in AED and are typical ranges for residential ovens in Abu Dhabi, inclusive of VAT where applicable. Your exact price is confirmed on-site after diagnosis.
Brands We Repair
We service built-in and freestanding ovens from all major brands sold in the UAE.
AEG
Common in higher-end built-in installations, with more advanced electronics than mass-market brands. Diagnosing control board and sensor faults takes specific familiarity with AEG's system logic.
Bosch / Siemens
Widely used for built-in ovens in newer villas and apartments. Generally reliable, but boards and modules cost more to replace than mass-market alternatives when they do fail.
Electrolux
One of the most common built-in oven brands across Abu Dhabi. Heating element and thermostat faults are the most frequent issues we see on these units.
Elba / Zanussi
Common on mid-range built-in and freestanding ovens. Parts are generally well-stocked given how widely these are sold in the UAE, keeping turnaround fast.
Smeg
Increasingly popular for their retro styling in villa kitchens. The internal components are broadly standard despite the distinctive look, though styled parts can take longer to source.
Also serviced: Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, Beko, Ariston, Indesit, Candy, and Haier ovens. Call to confirm if your brand isn't listed.

Commercial & Combi Oven Repair
Restaurants, hotel kitchens, and cafes run combi ovens, commercial gas ranges, and pizza ovens through far more covers a day than a home oven ever sees, and downtime is lost revenue, not just inconvenience — we prioritise commercial call-outs accordingly.
Rational is the combi oven we're asked about most in Abu Dhabi's hotel and restaurant kitchens — steam generator faults, the touchscreen control unit, and door seal replacement are the most common calls. We also service commercial gas ovens and ranges, deck ovens, and pizza ovens (including conveyor models), with a focus on getting a kitchen back to service the same day wherever possible.
For bakery-specific equipment — dough sheeters, spiral mixers, and bakery deck ovens — we cover diagnosis and repair on the same visit as your oven if both are due for attention, rather than treating it as a separate call-out.
Oven Installation
We also fit new ovens, whether it's a straight swap or your first built-in oven going into a kitchen that never had one.
Built-in ovens need the right cabinet housing
A built-in oven sits inside a cabinet cutout sized to the exact model, with ventilation clearance around the housing so heat can escape during use. Swapping to a different brand sometimes needs cabinet or trim adjustment, which we check before quoting rather than assuming a like-for-like fit.
Electrical circuit capacity matters
A built-in electric oven draws significant current, usually on its own dedicated circuit rather than sharing with other kitchen sockets. On a first-time install or when upgrading to a larger double oven, we confirm the existing circuit can handle the new unit before connecting it.
Freestanding range ovens
A freestanding cooking range (oven and hob combined) is simpler to install than a built-in unit — it needs leveling, a secure electrical or gas connection depending on the model, and, on gas ranges, an anti-tip bracket fitted to the floor or wall as a safety measure against the unit tipping forward under weight on the open oven door.
Installation is quoted separately from repair — call for a price once you know whether it's a straight swap or a first-time fit.
Does the Type of Oven Change the Repair?
Yes — access, complexity, and typical faults all differ by type.
Single built-in oven
The most common setup in Abu Dhabi kitchens. Access means removing surrounding cabinetry panels first, which adds labour time versus a freestanding unit.
Double oven
Two separate cavities, each with its own element, fan, and sometimes thermostat. A fault in one cavity is diagnosed and fixed independently of the other.
Freestanding range oven
Part of a full cooking range rather than built into cabinetry. Generally the fastest and cheapest to access for a repair.
Pyrolytic (self-clean) & steam
Pyrolytic ovens run extreme-heat cleaning cycles that stress door seals and lock mechanisms faster than a standard oven. Steam ovens are rarer in Abu Dhabi villas and involve more complex electronics — parts and specialist availability can take longer.
Why Ovens Fail Faster in Abu Dhabi
A few local factors show up repeatedly in the ovens we open.
- Kitchen ambient heat
- A kitchen that already runs hot in summer — especially in villas without strong air conditioning near the cooking area — adds to the heat the door seal and surrounding components already deal with during normal use, shortening seal life.
- Voltage fluctuations
- Grid voltage fluctuations during periods of peak demand put extra stress on control boards and heating element relays — a genuine contributor to the electrical faults we diagnose.
- Coastal humidity
- In areas like Al Reem Island and the Corniche, humid air accelerates corrosion on control board connectors — exactly the kind of moisture ingress that shows up as breaker-tripping faults over time.
- Heavy entertaining and cooking volume
- Larger households and homes that entertain regularly run the oven through more full-heat cycles than a typical mid-range oven is designed around — the main driver of early element and door seal wear.
Repair or Replace?
A well-maintained built-in oven typically lasts 10–15 years. Element, thermostat, and seal repairs are almost always worth doing regardless of age. A control board replacement on an oven past year 10 is where the maths starts to favour a new unit.
Usually worth repairing
A heating element or door seal fault on an oven of any age. Built-in ovens run AED 1,500–3,500+ new, so these repairs are a small fraction of replacement cost.
Worth considering replacement
A control board replacement quoted at AED 700-800 on a 10+ year old oven, especially alongside other signs of wear. At that point you're paying a large share of a new oven's price to extend an aging one.
